Stolen urn returned to White Rock woman

Francine Bedard was called about her located urn box last week.

A White Rock woman is thrilled about the return of her father’s stolen box urn.

Francine Bedard told Peace Arch News Friday that staff at People’s Pharmacy in Ocean Park – where a break-in took place last month – let her know the blue box her siblings had made for their father’s ashes had been located.

“I was so emotional,” she said. “It’s wonderful news.”

Bedard – who performs as a musician, children’s entertainer and clown under the name Fanny Starchild – had contacted PAN about the March 15 break-in, in the hopes the public might locate the box urn.

Her brother and sister had sent it over from Quebec and would later be coming to White Rock with their father’s ashes to scatter them in the seaside city.

On March 27, two days after Peace Arch News reported the theft, Bedard received the good news that her box had been located.

Surrey RCMP noted the urn was not recovered by police.

Management for the pharmacy could not be reached for comment.
