A stolen vehicle has been recovered by Vernon RCMP.

On Wednesday at about 3:30 a.m., officers were notified of a hit-and-run accident in the drive-thru at the McDonald’s restaurant on 25th Avenue.

“A blue Toyota 4-Runner hit a yellow painted post shearing it off, and the vehicle then took off,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

“The registered owner of the vehicle was contacted and he advised police that his vehicle had been stolen.”

Then at about 4 a.m., police received another call about a vehicle that had crashed in the alley behind the 3500 block of 42nd Avenue.

“Police attended this location and found the 4-Runner from the McDonald’s hit-and-run accident from earlier in the morning, abandoned in the alley with damage to the front bumper, the front left side and the windshield,” said Molendyk.

With the aid of the police service dog, officers located three Vernon men in their late teens and early 20s.

They were arrested and it was anticipated charges would be laid Wednesday.
