Storm causes power outages in Beaver Valley/Likely areas

A heavy wind and rainstorm that hit Williams Lake and surrounding areas Thursday evening felled hydro lines causing power outages.

BC Hydro estimates the power will be back on later Friday for customers in the Beaver Valley Road and Likely area who have been without power since Thursday evening.

“The manager in your region said power should be restored by 4 p.m. for people on Beaver Valley Road and by 5 p.m. for people on the Little Lake Road near Likely,” said BC Hydro community relation’s Dave Mosure from Prince George.

A heavy wind and rainstorm hit Williams Lake and the surrounding area Thursday at around 7 p.m., causing trees to fall on hydro lines which resulted in the power outages.

Some customers along Beaver Valley Road had their power restored by 11:30 p.m.

Presently 28 customers in the Beaver Valley Road, Nicol Road, and Teasdale Road  are still without power while 14 customers are impacted on the Little Lake Road.
