The third in a series of storms to strike the coast of southern B.C. is coming, and Environment Canada has posted a wind warning for Saturday.

The energy and rain from the remains of Typhoon Songda is forecast to cross Southern Vancouver Island, bringing winds gusting up to 100 km/h. The storm should ease by early Sunday morning, says Environment Canada.

It will be the most powerful of the three storms that have hit the B.C. Coast on Thursday and Friday, and B.C. Hydro is advising people to prepare for power outages.

More than 100,000 BC Hydro customers homes lost power in 185 outages across the province during Friday’s storm, and that included numerous outages in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows on Friday afternoon that affected approximately 4,000 homes and businesses, but by Saturday morning all but one small outage had been restored.

Falling trees have caused traffic mayhem, and a Surrey teen died after being struck by a tree.
