Strong winds cause power outages in Coldstream

A strong but brief gust of wind brought down a tree at Kalamalka Road and Howe Drive

The lights were out for many Coldstream residents Saturday night.

A strong but brief gust of wind brought down a tree at Kalamalka Road and Howe Drive at about 6:30 p.m. It pulled power lines out of two houses and cracked a power pole, forcing lights to go dark in an area from Howe Drive to Coldstream Elementary.

A portion of Kalamalka Road also had to be closed as the tree posed a potential risk to motorists.

B.C. Hydro also reports trees across wires caused outages along Buchanan Road, Cosens Bay Road, College Drive and the 7500 block of Highway 6.
