Student presentations to be held for district scholarships

Event takes place Wednesday at Abbotsford Arts Centre and Abbotsford Senior Secondary.

The public is welcome to attend district scholarship presentations on Wednesday, April 23 in Abbotsford.

The presentations take place from 9 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. at the Abbotsford Arts Centre and Abbotsford Senior Secondary, with a break from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This is part of the provincial scholarships program, and a total of 158 Grade 12 students from throughout the district will make presentations in categories such as photography, music, drama, dance, community service, textiles and trades.

Adjudicators are school district staff and members of the community.

The total scholarship amount available is $154,000.

The district scholarships, also known as District Authority Awards, are presented to graduating students for excellence in their chosen non-academic field. Recipients receive $500 cash and $500 to be applied toward post-secondary tuition.

All Grade 12’s are eligible to apply.
