Residents concerned about noise from the Salmon Arm Fairgrounds during the Sturgis North motorcycle rally and music festival may have some of their fears alleviated with the latest plan.
At Monday’s meeting of the city’s development and planning services committee, Coun. Debbie Cannon asked, in light of Sturgis securing a new site in Gleneden, if the city’s noise bylaw extensions could be retracted. Steve Hammer of Sturgis North said organizers intend to have, “the fall fairgrounds what we call dark by 9:30 p.m. and be out of there by 10.”
Because a council member who voted for the noise extension must make a motion to reconsider, Coun. Ivan Idzan said he would bring up the item at the June 13 council meeting.
The extension would no longer be required, because the noise bylaw lists a 10 p.m. limit.
