Early on January 14, the Kimberley/Cranbrook Crime Reduction with the assistance of General Duty members from both detachments and a Police Dog arrested a Kimberley resident for trafficking.
A vehicle stop was conducted at approximately 2:30 am and the driver taken into custody. A search was conducted of the person and one ounce of cocaine and several hundred dollars cash was located. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and residence. The search located approximately nine ounces of cocaine along with further evidence to support drug trafficking charges.
The evidence will be forwarded to Crown Counsel for review and the charges will be determined at that time.
“This was a combined investigation between the two detachments that resulted in the successful arrest and seizure. The subject has been under investigation for some time and we are fortunate to have removed a large quantity of illicit drugs from the community.” Sgt. Chris Newel, Kimberley RCMP Detachment Commander.
