Another robbery that has occurred in Abbotsford is not believed to be related to previous incidents in the city.
The latest robbery took place on Sunday, Nov. 10 at about 10:20 p.m., when a man entered the Subway restaurant in the 2000 block of Whatcom Road.
The suspect approached an employee at the cash register, implied that he had a weapon and demanded cash.
Two employees were in the restaurant at the time, but neither one was hurt, although they were shaken by the incident.
The suspect is described as Caucasian, 20 to 30 years old, and about 5′ 11″.
He was wearing a thick grey plaid jacket with black stripes and a hood, a grey T-shirt, black baggy sweatpants, runners with white soles, and a purple baseball cap with a Minnesota Vikings logo on the front.
Const. Paul Walker said investigators do not believe that the culprit is connected to the recent rash of business robberies in the area.
There have been seven previous armed robberies in Abbotsford and two in Mission, starting on Sept. 16.
Most of them involved a suspect of the same description – a Caucasian man 20 to 30 years old, 5′ 8″ to 5′ 10″ tall, with a thin build.
The last two robberies occurred less than an hour apart on Tuesday, Oct. 22, and police released photos and video of the suspect that were obtained from security footage.
Walker said major crime investigators are still working on these files, and no one has yet been arrested.
