Sue-Ellen Miller announces retirement as Quesnel School District superintendent

Miller has been working inside the district since July 1989

For the past 16 years, Sue-Ellen Miller has worked as the Quesnel School District’s superintendent, but that will no longer be the case as of Jan. 1, 2022.

The district shared the news of her retirement via a news release.

“(Miller) is leaving behind a legacy of exceptional leadership, with students at the forefront of every decision,” it reads. “Her passion for public education, equity and the success of all of our students has been an integral part of our district’s success for many years.”

Miller began working at the school district in 1989 as a language pathologist, holding several roles in student support over the years. She was appointed as the district’s director of instruction in 2003 and superintendent in 2005.

“The Board would like to thank Sue-Ellen for her work toward equity for all students and providing outstanding leadership in embracing the calls to action of Truth and Reconciliation for Indigenous students,” the release reads. “Sue-Ellen’s commitment to collaborative leadership, exceptional communication and inclusion of all is a testament to our motto ‘Together We Can.'”
