Sun blinded driver

Following too close never a good idea, say police

If the sun is blinding you while you’re making a turn onto the highway, best to think twice before proceeding, say police.

A 19-year-old Parksville man attempted to make a left turn at the intersection of Highway 4 and 4A near Qualicum Beach on April 2. Oceanside RCMP Corporal Richard van de Pol said the driver of the red pickup truck was unable to see oncoming traffic, resulting in him being unable to avoid a collision with an oncoming Honda, proceeding normally through the green light.

The driver of the Honda was rushed to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with non-life threatening chest injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was issued with a ticket for failing to yield at an intersection.
