She said “Yes!”
Samantha Robinson accepted her boyfriend Rob Symons’ proposal of marriage with an enthusiastic yes after reading it on the front page of The Morning Star last Sunday morning, all before her first cup of coffee.
“He had told me he was going to do something I would never forget and I’ll never forget this,” said Robinson. “He knows that every Sunday morning I sit down with my coffee and read the paper.”
So Symons took out an ad that stretched along the bottom of the front page that read, “Samantha Robinson… Will you marry me? Forever yours, forever mine, together always, ‘till the end of time.”
On the Sunday before Christmas, Symons let Robinson sleep in and with their children around them he prompted her to look at The Morning Star.
“He told me he was in the paper so I looked towards the back first… and he said, ‘No look at the front!’ It took me a minute before I saw my name,” laughs Robinson, thinking back on the moment she saw the proposal on the page before looking up to see Symons on one knee with a ring in his hand.
When asked if he was nervous about what her reaction would be he said, with a grin, “I was pretty sure what the answer would be.”
The couple are excited about their future together and have already planned the wedding they hope to have at the Prestige Hotel in September.
Robinson beams up at her fiancé saying, “He always does things a little differently and goes that extra mile.”
