Your superintendent of schools now has a blog.
It’s not that Tom Longridge, superintendent of the Campbell River School District (SD72) feels their communication strategy isn’t working, it’s just about using as many “mechanisms” available to reach the most number of people.
“It’s just a way for me to communicate some of my thoughts on what I see around the district in a maybe less formal way,” Longridge says. “It’s another way to reach out into the community and enhance our voice, you could say, by using as many mechanisms as possible.”
Longridge’s first blog post was Oct. 12. In that post, he talks about the redesigned curriculum, new assessment and feedback strategies and his excitement about what seems to be “a sustained pattern of incremental growth” in the enrolment numbers district-wide.
At this point Longridge says he can’t say what the overall tone or content of the blog will be as it progresses – that will have to work itself out over time – but does say it will be focused on our school district, specifically, and will be updated “about once a month, probably,” but could be on any subject or topic he feels will be of interest to people.
“As things catch my eye within the district, I’ll just take some time to jot down some of my thoughts on it and share those with the public,” Longridge says.
The superintendent’s blog can be accessed through the main page of the school district website.
