SURREY — Police suspect driver “inexperience” and “error” is what caused a Nissan Altima to crash into a Whalley gym on Monday afternoon.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann said the driver, whose age was not released, was learning to drive, with her mom in the passenger seat, when the car crashed into Fit for Women Gym at 10039 Whalley Boulevard, at about 12:30 p.m.

She was apparently trying to park the car. Nobody was injured

Schumann said there will be no criminal charges. “Motor Vehicle Act infractions will be considered at some point,” he said.

The car was not seized for a mechanical inspection.
