Surrey duo engage in knife fight on Leon Avenue

One man was taken to hospital after the altercation early Sunday morning.

Police are investigating after a 19-year-old Surrey man was sent to hospital with apparent stab wounds early Sunday morning at 1:43 a.m.

Kelowna RCMP initially responded to a report of a stabbing victim at Kelowna General Hospital. Turned out that earlier that night, two groups of Indo-Canadian men were apparently involved in an altercation on the 200 block of Leon Avenue.

During the altercation, a 19-year-old Surrey man suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries as a result of being stabbed. He was subsequently taken to hospital by his friends.

No other significant injuries were reported.

Both groups appear to be known to each other and are believed to be from Surrey.

The investigation is ongoing.
