RICHMOND — A Surrey man accused of stabbing a man in Richmond has been charged with aggravated assault and is being held in jail.

Jason Curtiss Billing, 35, of Surrey is accused of stabbing a 45-year-old Richmond man multiple times shortly before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, in the 5000-block of Williams Road.

Richmond RCMP Corporal Dennis Hwang said the victim’s injuries are serious.

Police allege the accused was involved in some kind of disturbance near the victim’s home and the two got into an argument as a result.

Hwang said the accused and victim knew each other.

“The victim was preparing to mow his lawn before he was allegedly stabbed by the suspect,” he said.

Hwang said the suspect — a white man with a shaved head and “extensive” tattoos on his arms — took off in a silver Mercedes Benz convertible and was stopped and arrested by “multiple officers” near No. 5 Road and Seacliff Road in Richmond.

“We are thankful for the assistance from the public in this matter and from our Surrey RCMP colleagues,” Hwang said.
