Surrey man charged with indecent acts after exposing himself outside home

New Westminster police say the department received numerous complains over the last 6 months

A Surrey man is facing several charges after six months of reports of a man committing indecent acts outside of a New Westminster home.

New Westminster police say 51-year-old Anup Narayan is facing three counts of indecent act and one count of exposure to a person under the age of 16.

Police have been receiving numerous reports of a man committing indecent acts outside of a home in the 500-block of Kelly Street for the last six months, but additional reports were made after the suspect was seen at different times masturbating while peering into the home.

The major crime unit took on the investigation May 22, and officers arrested Narayan. He has since been released, but has an upcoming court date.

“This was a very disturbing series of events that negatively impacted members of our community,” Deputy Chief Const. Paul Hyland said.

Police said there could be other victims throughout the Lower Mainland.

Anyone with more information, or who may have been a victim of a similar offence, is asked to contact the New Westminster Police Department at 604-525-5411.
