A man who was walking down the street with a realistic looking imitation rifle was taken into police custody over the weekend.

GUILDFORD — A 21-year-old Surrey man dressed in full camouflage and carrying what looked like a black long-barrel firearm surely gave some locals a scare over the weekend.

Police say the man was spotted walking along the west side of 150th Street just past 101 Avenue around 10 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 15).

Officers located the man with guns drawn and took him into custody near 104th Avenue.

Police say the firearm was a realistic looking Airsoft rifle that resembled the Colt Carbine that RCMP carry.

It was determined by police that it was an imitation.

The man told police he was heading to an Airsoft competition nearby.
