SURREY — Police are trying to identify a suspect in an attempted ATM robbery in Newton.

It happened last July 7, in the 7100-block of Scott Road.

A man with a knife tried to rob the victim as he left the ATM.

“The victim was able to escape and called police immediately,” Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann said. “Officers, including a police dog service team, were unable to track down the suspect.”

Police have released a surveillance photo from the scene showing the suspect, who is white and wore a blue hoodie.

“Thankfully the victim was not harmed during this incident,” Schumann said. “If anyone saw this incident or recognizes the suspect, investigates would like to hear from you right away.”
