Friends and family mourned the death of a Surrey teen killed on the weekend in a single-vehicle ATV crash in Roberts Creek.

Jordan Tsuruda, 17, was remembered by loved-ones and classmates at Earl Marriott Secondary as a caring friend, loving brother, and friendly guy with an easy smile.

“I love you with all my heart,” wrote Tsuruda’s sister Savanna in a touching tribute on social media. “You were my rock… The responsible one out of us three, you confided in me for everything from girls, to life.”

One of triplets, Tsuruda was “the most selfless person I have ever known,” wrote Savanna. “The fact that your last words were ‘tell them I love them’ breaks my heart and I will never forget what we had.”

An experienced ATV rider, Tsuruda was out on a forest service road in Roberts Creek Saturday with a group of six when, at around 2 p.m., he crashed into a concrete barrier near a bridge.

The impact threw the teen about 30 feet down a ravine. He was evacuated to Vancouver General Hospital by air ambulance but succumbed to his injuries.

“The graduating class of 2016 will forever hold your memory and smile in our hearts,” wrote one school mate on Facebook, one of many tributes and condolences offered to the Tsuruda family. “We have united together as a community, and as a school, we are here for you.”

Police said the death was an accident. It is not known what caused Tsuruda’s ATV to collide with the barrier.

“This was a sad end to what was supposed to be a day of fun and adventure on the Sunshine Coast back roads,” Sunshine Coast RCMP Const. Harrison Mohr said in a statement.
