North Okanagan residents are again being invited to help steer the Okanagan’s transportation future.
The cities of Kelowna and Vernon, the districts of West Kelowna, Peachland, and Lake Country, the Westbank First Nation and the Regional District of Central Okanagan, have partnered to conduct the regional travel survey as daily travel pattern information will help design future transportation systems and corridors.
“A survey of this type is key to future transportation and land-use planning decisions throughout the Okanagan,” said Vernon Mayor Robert Sawatzky. “This snapshot of how people travel day-to-day will help us assess our current and future transportation needs.”
Track your trips for one day and not only will you be entered to win great prizes but you’ll also benefit the United Way.
The more people who complete their survey, the more accurate picture of how people travel in the region, allowing planners and engineers to design the most appropriate transportation system for the Okanagan. Your input will influence the way the transportation system is planned for the future.
As a bonus, every household that completes the survey is entered to win one of a number of prizes, including:
– a grand prize of a $5,000 shopping spree,
– three $1,000 shopping sprees,
– $7,000 worth of gift cards,
– a weekend for a family of four (including lift tickets, lessons, lodging, rentals, tubing, and skating) at Big White Ski Resort plus opening day lift tickets,
– seasons tickets to West Kelowna Warriors, and,
– 60 $25 gift certificates from Kelly O’Bryan’s Neighborhood Restaurants.
Plus, every survey submitted supports the local United Way. For every completed survey, $1 will be donated to the local United Way (up to a maximum of $5,000).
“Each person’s input is important because the more people who respond, the better the quality of resulting information,” said Kelowna Mayor Walter Gray. “We’re asking residents to log their trips for one day. Please take a few minutes and complete this important survey.”
