The Castlegar RCMP is currently investigating a break-in enter, which occurred early Sunday morning at The Chameleon Restaurant in Castlegar. The suspect may be injured after being shot at by the complainant.

On Sunday, September 3, 2017, the Castlegar RCMP responded to a break-in enter at the Cameleon Restaurant. On arrival police were advised that the lone male suspect had fled and may be suffering from a gunshot wound.

The owner stated to police that he resides upstairs at the restaurant and after being awoken by noise, he went to investigate — arming himself with a small caliber handgun. The complainant stated that the suspect was wearing a brown hoodie, and had his face was covered.

During the confrontation the complainant was bear sprayed and discharged a handgun, possibly striking the suspect who then fled.

RCMP investigators located clothing articles nearby, which they believe were associated to the incident. The suspect has not been identified or located and police would like to confirm the well-being of the suspect and ascertain further information as to what occurred.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Castelgar RCMP ask that anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have knowledge of the suspects’ whereabouts contact the Castlegar RCMP at 250-365-7721 or via Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
