Suspect rams Mission RCMP while attempting to flee

Integrated Police Dog Service called in to help locate and take man into custody

  • Feb. 21, 2020 12:00 a.m.

Thursday was a bad day for a 47 year old man who is known to Mission RCMP.

Just after midnight on Feb. 20, a resident in the Hawkins Pickle Road area woke up to see their van leaving the driveway. The resident immediately called police.

Mission RCMP attended and located the stolen van on Stave Lake Road.

The suspect attempted to flee and rammed a police vehicle several times in the process.

Police were able to safely disable the vehicle.

At that point the suspect fled the scene.

The Integrated Police Dog Service was called out and the suspect was tracked to a nearby property where he was safely taken into custody.

“Luckily there was no one seriously injured. With calls like these, there is just so much that could go wrong,” said Cpl. Nathan Berze of the Mission RCMP.

Police note the allegations against the suspect have not been proven in court. Charges will be recommended.
