A man arrested in connection with a case of indecent exposure in Kelowna has been ruled out as a suspect in a similar incident in Vernon.
A 59-year-old supsect was taken into custody in Kelowna Thursday, May 25 after he allegedly exposed himself to others inside a business located on Rutland Road. The suspect left the store and departed the area in a Dodge Ram truck.
The man was arrested on Rutland Road and charged with indecent exposure.
The day before, Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP received a report of an indecent act which had occurred May 23, on the Okanagan Rail Trail off Kickwillie Loop Road.
A woman told police an unknown man in a wooded area near the one kilometre mark of the trail was observed masturbating. He continued to masturbate and began walking toward the complainant and acknowledged her verbally.
The man was described as Caucasian, approximately 45-to-50 years old, five-foot-10 and was wearing dark shorts.
“Our investigators have ruled the Kelowna man out as a suspect in the Vernon rail trail incident,” said Kelowna RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “The public is still encouraged to come forward to the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP with any tip information.”
The RCMP are asking the public to remain cautiously vigilant when using this area.
