Police say that after being left with the bill for a Langley restaurant, a man pulled a gun and robbed the place instead.
Gregory James Fader, 29, has now been charged and is allegedly responsible for two separate robberies in one night.
On Nov. 17, a man approached the cashier at the customer service desk at the Langley City Save-On-Foods and demanded cash from the till, said Cpl. Holly Largy of the Langley RCMP.
He got away with almost $500, Largy said.
Later that night, a group of people attended the Earl’s restaurant on 200th Street.
Fader was allegedly the last of the group to leave, and was left to settle the bill.
Instead of paying, police allege that Fader pulled a gun and demanded cash.
When the employees did not hand over any money, Fader allegedly took several bank deposit bags from a desk and fled. The bags had more than $1,000.
Fader was arrested late that evening when officers spotted him and recognized his description given by robbery victims.
Fader, of no fixed address, remains behind bars charged with one count of robbery, one count of robbery with a firearm, and use of an imitation firearm while committing an offence. He is scheduled to appear in Surrey Provincial Court on Nov. 27th.
