Suspects await court on weapons, drug charges as police work to reduce violent crime

Three adults from Kamloops are facing a long list of charges in relation to a traffic stop Wednesday in Williams Lake.

Three adults from Kamloops are facing a long list of charges in relation to a traffic stop Wednesday in Williams Lake that resulted in the seizure of weapons, disguises and explosive devices.

According to Williams Lake Provincial Court dockets James Robert Juke, Dyami Diana Rickman and Tye Christopher Jones remain in custody as they await their next court appear scheduled for Dec. 20 in Williams Lake Provincial Court.

All together the three face 42 charges.

James Robert Juke, 39, faces 20 charges; two counts of possessing a loaded prohibited or restricted weapon or an unload prohibited or restricted weapon with ammunition readily available, one count of occupying a vehicle in which there is a firearm, four counts of possessing explosives with intent to cause bodily harm, one count of possessing a controlled substance, one count of possessing a break-in instrument, possession of unauthorized firearm, possessing a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public and nine counts of possession of a firearm contrary to an order.

Dyami Diana Rickman, 19, faces 11 charges; one count of possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted weapon or an unloaded prohibited or restricted weapon with ammunition readily available, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, one count of occupying a vehicle in which there in a firearm, four counts of  possessing explosives with intent to cause bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a break-in instrument, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Tye Christopher Jones, 33, faces 11 charges; one count of possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted weapon or an unloaded prohibited or restricted weapon with ammunition readily available, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, one count of occupying a vehicle in which there in a firearm, four counts of  possessing explosives with intent to cause bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a break-in instrument, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

In an interview on the matter earlier this week, Insp. Jeff Pelley said officers were responding to an unrelated call when they witnessed suspicious activity in the suspect’s vehicle and pulled the vehicle over.

Pelley wouldn’t comment on what part of the city the stop was made, however, he did confirm it happened within the city limits.

Pelley also said he believed making the arrest prevented a violent incident from occurring the lakecity.

The RCMP have made several arrests in recent months, targeting weapons and drug offenses in a concerted effort to reduce violent acts in the lakecity.

Most notably, on Nov. 24 police arrested a man after a search of a home on Windmill Crescent resulted in the seizure of an estimated one kilogram of cocaine, an unknown quantity of suspected methamphetamine, two loaded handguns, two semi-automatic rifles, ammunition, a homemade firearm sound suppressor, edged weapons, thousands of dollars in cash and drug paraphernalia consistent with what was believed to be an illegal synthetic drug lab.

Dominic David Joseph Gelowitz is facing 13 charges in connection with the search and seizure; five counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of careless use or storage of a firearm and four counts of possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted weapon.

Gelowitz is currently in custody awaiting his next court appearance Jan. 4, 2017 in Williams Lake Provincial Court.

Another high profile search and seizure in October in an apartment at 605 Carson Drive also netted weapons and drug charges and the arrest of two individuals in Williams Lake recently.

Davey Ronald Auger, 20, and Shayanna Paige Stene, 21, face sixteen charges each; three counts each of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts each of possessing a loaded restricted or loaded prohibited weapon or a restricted or prohibited weapon with ammunition readily available, three counts each of unauthorized possession of a firearm, seven counts each of careless use or storage of a firearm and one count each of possessing weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Auger and Stene are scheduled to appear in Williams Lake Provincial Court Jan. 11, 2017.

Pelley credits a successful collaboration effort between the Williams Lake RCMP and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – B.C. (CFSEUBC) with the recent arrests as part of the detachment’s strategic priorities in reducing violent crime in the lakecity.
