Three suspects in an alleged Vernon break-and-enter have a date with a judge.

Just before 1 a.m. Aug. 12, a concerned citizen called the RCMP to report a break-and-enter in progress at Farrer Equipment Rentals on 25th Avenue. Three individuals were subsequently located by police officers.

“All have been released and they will appear in court at a later date,” said Gord Molendyk, Vernon RCMP detachment spokesperson.

The three suspects are in their 20s and 30s and they are all from the Salmon Arm and Sorrento area.

They are facing charges of break-and-enter and possession of break-and-enter tools.

Police were notified by a resident who heard an alarm and noticed a white Pontiac van in the area.

Shortly after receiving the tip, officers stopped a van near the scene, and there were three people inside the vehicle.

Molendyk says the observant resident did the right thing by reporting suspicious activity.

“We talk about community policing and the police and the community working together,” he said.

“We need to work together. The police can’t do it all.”
