Downtown Kelowna was a nibblers paradise Saturday as the Taste of Downtown Kelowna was held and attracted hundreds to try free samples being offered by participating restaurants and a local distillery.
The event, to help popularize downtown eating establishments, included a free event passport that restaurant visits had signed in an attempt to win prizes. The top prize was a “Full Downtown Kelonwa Experience,” that includes an overnight stay at the Delta Grand Okanagan Hotel, dinner theatre for two at Kelowna Actors Studio, as well as diner for two at Manhattan Point Restaurant in Prospera Place and two tickets to a Kelonwa Rockets hockey game. The DKA is also throwing in $300 spending money.
While 26 dining and drinking establishments participated, there are more than 80 in the downtown core.
The Taste of Downtown was a self-guided tour of the what the downtown area has to offer when it comes to restaurant, pubs, cafes and distilleries.
At many of the participating locations there were lines, as visitors tried the free samples being offered and had their passports signs. The good weather helped bring out hundreds for the event.
The winner of the passport prizes will be announced Sept. 8.
