This year’s tax increase remains the same as it did when council set its budget in January.

On Monday, city council passed its financial plan bylaw as it does each May to finalize the tax rate.

The increase will remain at 2.07 per cent, the same as was determined in January. That translates into $33 per year for an average $300,000 house, assuming there have been no unusual change in a property’s assessed value.

Monica Dalziel, the city’s chief financial officer, said one item of note is that the city didn’t receive a hoped-for grant for Blackburn Park, so some projects there will have to wait. But the preschool and school-aged children’s playgrounds will still be completed this year, as will work on the concession and washrooms.
