Teams prep for spelling bee

Junction Literacy and Youth Centre's Adult Spelling Bee Challenge gets underway Wednesday morning

With just a few days until the Adult Spelling Bee Challenge, teams are busy sharpening their skills in support of literacy.

“The Spelling Bee is a lot of fun and we like to take part in supporting literacy programs,” said Ann Iceton, who, with other staff members, is practising to be on the Interior Savings team at the challenge Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at the Best Western Vernon Lodge Plus.

Interior Savings has had a team in the challenge for the past five years. This is it’s second year as a gold sponsor, with a recent $2,500 donation to The Junction Literacy and Youth Centre event. Interior Savings staff members are also having a book sale for The Junction at the credit union during April.

There are still places available for teams and individuals in the spelling bee, or people can participate by sponsoring a high school student who would not be able to take part otherwise. For more information and registration call 250-275-3117, email admin@junctionliteracy.ca or see junctionliteracy.ca.
