Teen stabbed, another arrested in Surrey after virtual fight gets real

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. in a townhouse complex in the 18100-block of 70th Avenue

CLOVERDALE — Police say a dispute that began on social media ended with a teenage boy being stabbed and another arrested.

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. in a townhouse complex near 181st Street and 70th Avenue Thursday (May 4).

“The fight involved the one boy being stabbed in the abdomen,” said Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann, adding that his injuries are not considered life threatning.

Surrey RCMP arrived to find the boy “bleeding significantly,” according to a witness at the scene, who also said the victim was transported to hospital.

Schumann said the suspect, a 17-year-old boy, was picked up by police two hours after the incident.

“He is still in custody,” added Schumann. “There’s a possibility he may be appearing in youth court some time today.”
