A 16-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle as she was crossing East Saanich Road between Cooperidge and Central Saanich roads early Wednesday morning.
Police say she was struck by a southbound vehicle around 7:15 a.m. as she was darting across the street to catch a bus. “At this point speed and alcohol are not a factor,” said Central Saanich media liaison Cpl. Janis Jean.
The girl was taken to Victoria General Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries to her arm and leg. The driver, a Central Saanich man, remained at the scene and was cooperative with police.
