THREE TEENS, including one who tried to allegedly stab a man, are facing charges after a series of break and enters to vehicles early this morning.
The trio of 14-year-old boys were arrested after what police call a “car shopping spree,” which led to an assault with a knife, said police late this afternoon, Nov. 13.
If your vehicle was in the area of Hamer Ave., Soucie Ave., or Olson Ave. and victim of a break and enter and/or theft, report this to the Terrace RCMP immediately. Footprints from the thieves were observed in these areas leading up to numerous vehicles. We are also looking for backpacks that were possibly tossed by the thieves in the area of McConnell Ave. and Sparks St.,
says Cpl. Mark Alexander, Terrace RCMP general duty watch commander.
Two of the teens ran when the owner of a white Dodge Ram truck parked in a Soucie Ave. driveway confronted them about trying to break into his vehicle, but the owner caught the third by his jacket, said police about the incident at approximately 2:30 a.m. Nov. 13.
This boy attempted to assault the owner with a knife in his hand, but the owner defended himself from the attack by striking the boy to the ground, said police. Three people detained the boy until police arrived and arrested him.
Officers then followed footprints in the snow to the two boys who were found hiding in a heavily bushed area and arrested without incident, said police.
Charges of failing to comply with probation order x 2, theft under $5,000, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, trespass by night, and possession of property obtained by crime are being forwarded to Crown Counsel on one of the 14-year-old, whom officers have dealt with him 43 times and are requesting for him to be held in custody, said police.
The other two boys are held to be released on judicial process with charges of theft under $5,000, trespass by night, and possession of property obtained by crime.
