Police are advising parents to review safety rules regarding strangers after an incident in Harrison Hot Springs last week.
Two 14-year-old girls were approached by a man in a van on Chestnut Drive. He asked them if they would like some free candy, and when they responded no, he left the area.
The incident happened at about 7 p.m. on Friday, April 20. The man is described as Asian with greying hair, driving a beige Chevrolet Venture van, possibly at 2002 model.
“We want parents and teachers to be aware that this incident occurred,” said Cst. Tracy Wolbeck. “It is always a good idea to re-visit with kids the importance of recognizing a stranger and what to do if approached by someone they don’t know.”
District 78 Superintendent Dr. Karen Nelson is asking students and staff to be extra vigilant.
