The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine board voted to award an Invitation to Quote for a new Telegraph Creek dock and boat launch to West Horizon Contracting Ltd., in the amount of $295,000, and authorized staff to execute a contract with the company.

That figure excludes taxes. The RDKS is in the process of transporting concrete blocks to the site in anticipation construction starting in March and lasting into April, when the water is at a low point and temperatures are milder.

On Oct. 1, the regional district received three quotes for the project. West Horizon Contracting submitted the lowest quote.

The current dock and boat launch was constructed in 1986. It is a log crib structure built out of untreated logs and gravel back fill. A replacement is needed due to extensive rotting of the cribbing.

West Horizon Contracting Ltd. is based in Smithers and offers a variety of construction and maintenance services like road and bridge construction, land development, fencing and brushing.
