SURREY —The city is about to become a lot more colourful.
The management of Vedic Hindu Cultural Society (Lakshmi Narayan Mandir), is inviting all to participate in the Holi Celebration at the Surrey temple on Wednesday (March 23), starting at 4 p.m.
Holi is a spring festival and is also known as the festival of colours or the festival of sharing love. It is an ancient Hindu religious festival that has become popular with non-Hindus.
Traditionally, Holi celebrations start on the night before Holi with a Holika bonfire where people gather, sing, dance and party. The next morning is a free-for-all carnival of colours, where participants play, chase and colour each other with dry powder and coloured water, with some carrying water guns and coloured water-filled balloons for their water fight. Red signifies purity, yellow signifies piousness and green vitality.
Lakshmi Narayan Mandir is located at 8321 140th St. in Surrey.
