The tenth annual Halloween Family Fun night, held Saturday at the Princeton fairgrounds, was the spookiest and most successful to date.
Organizer Jen Bernard – the community’s Queen of Halloween – said more than 1,700 people people came together to enjoy the games, movies, bonfire and fireworks.
“It was awesome. We definitely know the community loves this event,” she said. “I can’t believe how many kids came totally dressed up.”
Walking through the displays for a pre-event check, Bernard was constantly in motion and demand, tacking up a stray spider web in one place, and negotiating a last minute volunteer for a spook house ghoul in another.
“I just love this. People ask me all the time why I do this when I don’t have any kids and I tell them we are all kids.”
Numerous local businesses contributed to the evening, and the Town of Princeton is a major sponsor.
Princeton scouts provided the food for night, and earned $1,039 in donations.
“They were very pleased,” said Bernard.
Several dozen bags of food were also collected for the upcoming Christmas hamper drive.
About 20 volunteers had a hand in putting together the displays and activities.
“I really want to thank the small group of people who literally gave up their lives for the last month to make this happen.”
