Terrace RCMP are reminding the public to be aware of their surroundings and keep their homes secure after a man was taken to hospital after being assaulted in his driveway.
On July 22, the Terrace resident was leaving to go to work in the morning, when he ran into a man on his property who then became aggressive, according to an RCMP media release.
The suspect was yelling threats and assaulted the resident in his driveway, which was heard by both a family member and neighbour who called police separately.
When the RCMP arrived at the scene, the suspect ran into the home where he was arrested before he could cause harm to anyone else.
The homeowner was taken to local hospital for treatment, and the suspect was taken to Terrace cells for processing. He was later released when sober with conditions and a court date.
After an investigation into the incident is complete, police will be forwarding the results to BC Prosecution Services for consideration of appropriate charges.
RCMP suggest that people keep a phone charged and in an accessible place to call for help, pay attention to surroundings, people and noises, as well as remembering to lock doors and keep property secure.
