Terrace RCMP arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted two people with a metal chain, according to a March 8 RCMP media release.
During the evening of Feb. 22, police were on the way to respond to a report of a potentially impaired driver near Munroe St. when they received an update that two people had been assaulted by an unknown man with a heavy-duty metal chain. RCMP located a victim who was bleeding profusely from his head.
Police were told that the victim had seen a man and woman causing a disturbance. When a female bystander approached to take a picture of the pair’s licence plate, a physical altercation broke out between the two women.
The male victim tried to restrain the woman who had become aggressive, and then the other suspect struck him with a chain several times. A witness captured the altercation on video and was also struck by the chain.
The injured male victim was taken to hospital by ambulance and police located and arrested the suspect a short time later for assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, failing to comply with probation order and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The suspect was held in custody for a bail hearing.
