TERRACE RCMP are warning people to be way of phone calls soliciting money on behalf of the police force.
In a release this morning, Terrace RCMP detachment Staff Sergeant Rob Pritchett said a senior was called yesterday.
“They reported that they had received a call from southern B.C. where a female came on the line, and stated they were connecting the senior to the RCMP. A male caller came on the line, and was soliciting donations to assist needy children in Terrace,” said Pritchett in the release.
“The senior did not send any money, nor provide any information to the caller,” the release continued.
“Police would like to remind the public that it is the policy of the RCMP to not take part in solicitation to raise funds for any cause,” Pritchett added.
In general, authorities advise people not to provide personal information to phone callers nor to follow through on requests for money.
