What experience do you have that makes you suited to be a director for Electoral Area A?

If I have the privilege of being elected for this four-year term I will have served the area for 20 years, I did take a one-term break where I choose not to run.

I was chair of the Fraser Valley Regional District for four years, vice chair for three, was elected (by UBCM members) to represent all electoral areas in the province at the Union of BC Municipalities executive board and was in this position for three years unopposed. I have established a good working relationship with a number of provincial ministrys, First Nations, other local governments and am on the boards of a number of tourism organizations.

What are the two most pressing issues facing the area? How do you plan to address them? (be specific)

There are number of land issues: everything from property lines to road access, the need for a new fire hall in Boston Bar, implementation of a good recycling program, continue to work on enticing small and/or large businesses into the area that are environmentally friendly.

What is your vision for Electoral Area A over the next decade?

Having a robust community comprised of small or large businesses and exploiting the wonders of the Fraser Canyon and all it has to offer by enticing more visitors to the area, I feel businesses will see opportunities to set up shop in our area.

If elected, how do you plan to collaborate and communicate with First Nations governments in Area A?

I do have a good working relationship with a number of the communities and have had for a long time. I do work for two, one within Area A and one that is not.

What experience do you have that makes you suited to be a director for Electoral Area A?

I have 18 years in local government, 40 years in business and also worked for three national corporations. This experience has given me a pretty complete vision of life issues.

What are the two most pressing issues facing the area? How do you plan to address them? (be specific)

Two issues: Geo-Tech issues and lack of ability to create revenue.

1. Geo-Tech: The government has to be convinced that they can’t have the Fraser Canyon on a one to 10,000-year occurrence and Roberts Bank on a one to 500-year occurrence.

2. We have the proven ability to generate revenue from the landfill and need the FVRD to take the final step.

What is your vision for Electoral Area A over the next decade?

Vision for Electoral Area A: A low cost part of the province will provide an area for small business to flourish with reasonable access to market.

If elected, how do you plan to collaborate and communicate with First Nations governments in Area A?

Our two local bands have shown great cooperation and leadership, so I believe we have a great platform for mutual benefit between original settlers and us newcomers.
