Reminder: Merchant Madness this Friday
If you’re looking to start—or finish—your Christmas shopping this weekend, then you can get a head start in Clinton at the local Merchant Madness event. From 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, at least six local businesses will be participating in the Village’s special evening of extended shopping hours.
Enjoy a night of shopping and supporting Clinton’s businesses. Home Hardware, Gardenside Pottery, As the Crow Flies Fleamarket, 47 Mile Vintage Shop, Hunnies Mercantile, and the North Road Trading Post will all be participating. The evening is sponsored by Clinton’s Communities in Bloom committee.
Updates coming to the Village fitness room
Did you know that Clinton has its own fitness room in the Village office building? For $20 per month, residents gain access to the facilities, just like a regular gym membership. The fitness room is currently undergoing a small face lift, but the wait to reopen will be worthwhile.
Some of the new equipment being assembled in the fitness room includes the Inspire M5 multigym, a Concept 2 rower, an Inspire leg press, a Progression Explode power tower, a Tuffstuff adjustable abdominal bench, a dip belt, and heavier dumbbells.
All of the new equipment that is currently being added to the gym is grant- and donation-funded. Watch for upcoming training sessions as they become available in the New Year to help teach residents about proper safe use of the new equipment.
December happenings at DSS
The last PAC meeting of 2018 will take place on Thursday, Dec. 13 at David Stoddart School from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Seniors’ Christmas Luncheon will happen at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19 before the school’s Winter Concert gets started at 1 p.m.
Remember: students in Clinton finish classes this year on Friday, Dec. 21, and are on winter break from Dec. 22 to Jan. 6. Classes resume on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019.
Kids Christmas Movie Night
All children in Clinton are invited to attend a free Kids Christmas Movie night that will take place on Saturday, Dec. 15 at Bethel Church, 308 Dewdney Avenue. The movies will start at 6 p.m. and complimentary popcorn will also be provided for parents and their children.
47 Mile Sports Complex Schedule
The 47 Mile Sports Complex—Clinton’s local arena, popular for hockey and skating—opened for public use last month. The Sports Complex offers public skating on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, unless a tournament or special skating event is booked.
“Sticks and Pucks” takes place each Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and women’s hockey is on Fridays. Men’s hockey meets Wednesdays and Sundays, and youth hockey takes place Thursdays and Sundays. Co-ed hockey is on Thursdays.
The arena is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. For detailed event times and playing schedules, check out the Sports Complex’s 2018/2019 season schedule, available on Clinton’s Facebook page (Village of Clinton Chatter) and the Village website (https://village.clinton.bc.ca/).
