Cranbrook RCMP respond to 135 calls March 20-27, 2017

The Cranbrook RCMP responded to 135 calls for service last week from March 20 to March 27, according to a press release sent from the detachment.

• RCMP took three impaired drivers off the road in alcohol and drug incidents.

• Five collisions were reported; two inside city limits and three outside of town. The accidents resulted in minor vehicle damage and/or minor injury.

• No hit and runs were reported.

• Five Mental Health calls were reported; two individuals were apprehended.

• Four assault complaints were reported: two were domestic in nature, with one person arrested in each incident; There was an assault and disturbance in a local restaurant — and man was arrested and is being charged.

• Nineteen thefts were reported over the past week. Five were shoplifting incidents. Two motor vehicle thefts were reported. One vehicle was recovered in Surrey and related to at least one of the thefts from motor vehicle described below. Charges are being forwarded for a local man. One vehicle was reportedly stolen as owner left keys in it. That vehicle was found on King Street, burned. There were eight thefts from motor vehicles – the majority of these were reported March 20. Among the items stolen: Snowmobiling equipment including helmet; a beacon, probe, loose change, a garage door opener. Of the other thefts, two proved to be unfounded and one was the result of a dispute between roommates. There was one report of a bike theft

• No break and enters to businesses were reported. However, there was one break and enter into residence — nothing stolen and in fact could have been workers doing work on flooded basement.

• There were two reports of property damage: one in town and one out of town.

• There were no drug seizures reported this week.

• There were 17 false alarms/false 911 complaints over the past week.
