Theft of guns from Spallumcheen home a concern for RCMP

Six long guns, a crossbow and a TV were stolen from a home in the 600 block of St. Annes Road on or around July 28.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are troubled over the theft of guns from a Spallumcheen residence.

Officers were called Saturday to St. Annes Road when people looking after a home for its owners, who are away on a fishing trip, reported a break-and-enter.

“The gun safe in the house had been broken into, and six long guns, one crossbow and a television had been stolen,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

The theft was reported Saturday, but the break-and-enter could have happened a day or so earlier, added Molendyk.

With the owner still away, police have been unable to get any information or details about the guns that were taken.

“We are concerned, of course, that six rifles of various descriptons have been stolen,” said Molendyk.

Anybody with any information on the theft is asked to call the local detachment at 250-545-7171, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Tips can also be left on the Crime Stoppers’  local website, www.nokscrimestoppers.com.
