Thefts from vehicles down to one

Camera gear swiped from unattended vehicle

Oak Bay police responded to just one vehicle theft last week, down from the recent average of three to five.

On July 19, a report came in that $4,400 of photographic equipment and other items were stolen from a vehicle. Deputy Chief Kent Thom said the theft could have occurred any time in the last two weeks as the owner had not checked his vehicle during that time and one of the windows was left rolled down.
