The Walnut Grove Gators are the 2017 BC High School Boys 4A basketball champions after defeating the Kelowna Owls tonight.
The Gators played Kelowna this evening, in day-four of the tournament, winning 78-65 and making head coach George Bergen proud.
“Feeling great, the game was really tense, tight battle,” he said.
“But we had a great second half especially in the fourth quarter, we changed some stuff up defensively that we needed to do. At the half, I told the guys we need to keep fighting. Who is going to put in more effort? Both teams put on a show, it was awesome.”
Championship player of the game went to Kelowna’s Mason Bourcier.
The championship coach title was given to Bergen, while the most sportsmanlike team title was given to Vancouver College.
The most outstanding defensive player went to Kelowna’s Matt Williamson, and the most valuable player was selected as James Woods of Walnut Grove.
