Thief steals cellphones in bulk from Langford Costco

After hiding inside Costco until it closed, on April 27, a man cleaned out a cellphone kiosk in the Langford wholesale store.

After hiding in Costco until it closed on April 27, a man cleaned out a cellphone kiosk in the Langford wholesale store.

He put the cellphones, of various makes and models into a grey, plastic garbage can and left the store after pulling the fire alarm.

The suspect left the scene in a two-door blue Ford Explorer estimated to be a model year from 1998 to 2000. He was described wearing black clothing.

RCMP forensic identification section recovered evidence from the scene but an identification has not been made.

West Shore RCMP and Langford Fire Rescue responded the store on McCallum Road at 11:15 p.m.

“The police investigation is on-going, we are asking that anyone with information regarding this significant theft or if they learn of new cell phones for sale that they call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477),” said Sgt. Max Fossum of West Shore RCMP.
