RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance after a Penticton resident that left the keys on the seat of their truck had it stolen.

“This was definitely a crime of opportunity that took mere seconds to unfold,” said Const. Liz Vant Erve. “I remind people to be extra careful with their property and protect it.”

On Dec. 20th, shortly after 2 p.m., a black, 1998 Ford F150 with British Columbia license plate number DS7104 was stolen from the alley in the 300 block of Rigsby Street in Penticton. RCMP said the truck was last observed travelling north in the alley toward Westminster Avenue.

The elderly owner of the vehicle had left his keys on the seat while he returned to his home to retrieve his phone. There are “Easy Easels” decals in white lettering on either side of the canopy windows. There was also a “handicap” sticker hanging from the rear view mirror.
