Thief uses debit card to steal $10,000

Langley RCMP are seeking two suspects in two separate crimes, a theft and a fraud.

On Jan. 23, a man was videotaped choosing three games for the PlayStation 4 console, and shoving them into the waistband of his pants in an electronics store. He walked around the store for almost 15 minutes, then left without paying.

The games were valued at between $30 and $100 per game, said Cpl. Holly Marks, spokesperson for the Langley RCMP.

On the same day at another Langley location, a man was photographed using a debit card that had been stolen from the mail earlier.

The scam artist managed to extract more than $10,000 in charges from the card before the true owner noticed suspicious activity on that account, said Marks.
