But there were a few restaurants that stood out above the rest as Penticton’s most popular on Skip, with Indian food being a clear favourite among locals. The following restaurants are the city’s top three favourite independent restaurants:

  • The Pasta Factory
  • Lachi – Fine Indian Cuisine
  • Lala Ji’s Indian Cuisine

Penticton clearly has an affinity for Indian cuisine, and that trend continues when it comes to the most popular dishes ordered on Skip in 2020. Here are the top three items ordered by Pentictonites in 2020:

  • Naan
  • Burgers
  • Ice Cream

Penticton’s favourites varied quite a lot from the most popular Skip orders across the country, which includes Asian dishes, burgers, and pizza as the top three most-ordered items.

Penticton’s food ordering habits are also quite different than the rest of the province. Here are some of the most interesting food delivery trends coming out of British Columbia:

  • British Columbia is one of the top three provinces that orders the most vegan, dairy-free and organic items per capita in Canada.
  • The most expensive order was $845. Think that’s a feast? The most expensive order in Canada was $900.27 in Edmonton.
  • Someone in British Columbia has ordered 759 times this year.
  • In 2020 alcohol orders grew 117 per cent province-wide.
  • The most popular day and time to place alcohol orders is Saturdays at 7 p.m.
  • In 2020 the most-ordered convenience item was slushies.
  • British Columbia’s biggest day for Skip orders was May 22. In Canada, Oct. 16 was the biggest ordering day.

As Penticton’s only food delivery app, SkipTheDishes continues to grow in the city seeing record breaking sales throughout 2020 while offering local restaurants a chance to continue making sale.

Skip customers have shown support to their local favourites with Canadians tipping more than $1.2 million in 2020. British Columbians alone tipped more than $230,00o, helping restaurateurs through unprecedented times.
